Colette Claros

Artist Statement

I feel a deep passion for conveying emotion thru my paintings.  Painting the human face and form is what I am always drawn to.  When that face becomes real and starts pushing thru the canvas as I paint its thrilling!

I want the viewer of my paintings to feel their heart squeeze just like mine does when I see a really wonderful painting. If we can share that experience together then it makes me very happy.

The practical side of me has been a Geophysicist for the past 28 years. The creative side had the desire to paint burning inside of me.  For some years I have studied weekly portrait/figure painting from a live model with nationally known artist William Kalwick.  I have studied with Rob Liberace, Ted Goerschner, Huihan Liu, Zhaoming Wu, Fongwei Liu, Scott Burduck, Sue Lyons, Carolyn Anderson, Ramiro Sanchez (Painting Director Florence Academy of Art), Ann Templeton, Robert Rohm, Judy Crowe, Arron Westerberg and Australian artist Colly Whisson
