Judy Elias

Judy is an artist who loves to travel. She depicts the places she visits in colorful small paintings of scenes from all over the world in a vivid, representational style.

She paints mostly smaller pieces en plein air, but is not adverse to enlarging a plein air study if a client likes it and wants something bigger . Judy is a skilled draftsperson, as is readily evidenced in the foundations of her paintings. She favors transparent color and her paintings make you want to visit the locations and see for yourself what she was seeing.

Judy's paintings are in many private collections throughout the United States.  Charleston is a port town and hosts many of visitors and art collectors who take away a little bit of Charleston by choosing a small painting.  Houston has a thriving art community and the businesses there support artists by buying and displaying works by local artists. Judy's work is displayed at the Weingarten Real Estate offices in Houston.  She is a Member of the Women Painters of the South East, and an associate member of Oil Painters of America,  the American Impressionists Society,   the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and the American Watercolor Society, Charleston Artist Guild, Kiawah Artist Guild and Seabrook Artist Guild.   In Houston She belongs to the Art League Houston and the Watercolor Society of Houston.  She studied art and Business at the University of Oklahoma, then design at the Academy of Merchandizing and Design in Chicago, Illinois, where she lived and worked for 18 years as and Interior designer and artist.  She uses color as a designer would in all her paintings.  She is now a full time painter living and maintaining two studios, one in Texas and one in South Carolina.

Judy was born in the oil fields of West Texas and has lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Illinois over the years. She has the spirit of a gypsy when it comes to painting and living, and has traveled the world in pursuit of  her passion for art, her desire to tell a story via the canvas as honestly  as beautifully as she can, and her commitment to artistic integrity and excellence.

Recently she had a painting in Charleston S.C. at the Gibbes Museum of Art Restoration Kick off Show and participated in the Fall Art and Wine Walk on Kiawah Island.  Also the Sasanquah Spa at The River Course on Kiawah Island SC carries her small paintings.

In Houston she had two paintings in the January 2017 Art and Wine Event at River Oaks Country Club.

She is represented by the Jack Meier Gallery in Houston, Texas and has smaller paintings at Feliz Interior Design, Houston, and Area Design in Houston.
