Sheryl Knight

Artist Biography

Known for her expressive style and vibrant yet tranquil color palette, Sheryl Knight’s captivating oil paintings have earned accolades from prestigious fine art organizations, juried exhibitions, and major publications across the country.  Having a passion for the landscape and just being outdoors has made Sheryl an artist who loves painting in the plein air tradition.  Her individual style and paint application is a constant theme throughout her body of work, creating a consistency that is uniquely her own.  Drawn to the beauty of the California landscape she finds joy in the subjects all around her. I love painting on location as I feel it brings out the true colors and atmosphere of nature.  There is also a tranquility and a thrill that comes from painting from life, and I am always inspired by the wonder of creation.

“I don’t think I will ever stop loving the process of putting oil paint on canvas and seeing something beautiful come out of it.  I am so thankful to be able to pursue this passion I call art.”

Sheryls award-winning oil paintings have shown in group and solo gallery exhibitions, as well as many national juried shows, and juried plein air exhibits. She is a signature member in American Women Artists and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society.   Her work can be found in private and corporate collections worldwide.  She is currently represented by six galleries in California, and she belongs to a number of organizations including Oil Painters of America, American Impressionistic Society, American Women Arts, National Oil Painters and Acrylic Society, California Art Club, Outdoor Painters Society, Women Artists of the West, California Plein Air Painters, and Laguna Plein Air Painters Association.

Sheryl recently had an Artist Profile feature article in the February/March 2017 issue of Plein Air Magazine.   Fourteen of her recent paintings are displayed in this article and the online version of the magazine.  She also recently won the Best of Show in the NOAPS International Show.
